Kudayathoor
Grama Panchayat

As part of the Government of Kerala’s "Malinyamuktha Nava Keralam" (Waste-Free New Kerala) campaign, the Haritha Karma Sena is a special volunteer/work force operating under the supervision of local self-government institutions (Gram Panchayats, Municipalities, Corporations) with the support of Suchitwa Mission and Kudumbashree. Their main objective is to properly collect inorganic waste generated in households and institutions and transport it to processing centers.

Inorganic Waste Collection: Collecting segregated inorganic waste from households and institutions, including cleaned and dried plastics, paper, electronic waste (E-waste), glass bottles, clothes, and used footwear.

Material Collection Facility (MCF / RRF): Transporting the collected waste to Panchayat/Municipality-level MCF (Material Collection Facility) and RRF (Resource Recovery Facility) centers, sorting it further, and handing it over for recycling through Clean Kerala Company or other authorized agencies.

User Fee Collection: Providing this service by collecting a fixed monthly rate (User Fee) determined by the government and local self-government bodies. This funds the livelihood of Haritha Karma Sena members and their operational expenses.

Awareness and Regulation: Educating the public on the importance of segregating waste at the source (at homes). Encouraging people to prevent burning plastic waste or throwing it into water bodies and public places.
